General water resources on earth

Water occupies 72% of our planet’s surface. Water resources in the world are primarily open reservoirs covering the surface of the Earth. Among them, there are oceans, seas, lakes, rivers and ponds, and underground water. The main source of drinking water on land is its underground deposits. The general water resources on earth are:

  • seas and oceans : 97,18 %
  • surface waters (rivers, lakes): 2,17 %
  • underground water: 0,62 %
